General Information for Fiji
Currency
The Fijian Dollar is the local currency of Fiji and all it's Islands. You can generally exchange all currencies at
airports, banks and some of the hotels. TO be safe Euros, Dollars, Yen, Australian Dollars and New Zealand Dollars are exchanged everywhere.
Credit Cards
Credit cards are accepted at all of the resorts and many of the larger hotels and larger businesses, however not all
retail outlets will accept credit cards so it is best to check before making your purchase.
Language
The official language of Fiji is Fijian however English is widely spoken through the Islands. Almost all of the hotel
and resort staff will speak English, although it would be worth the effort for you to try some local Fijian phrases such as "Bula" (Hello)
and "Vinaka" (Thank You).
Government
In December 2006 there was a Military coup and since that there is an Interim Government in place in Fiji. It is led by
the Commander of the Fiji military. The military forces are also in control of many government departments and authorities which includes the police.

Visas
No visas are required prior to arrival in Fiji and visit are granted upon arrival. Your Passport must be valid of a period of (minimum) 6 months when
you arrive.
European, US, New Zealand, Australian and Canadian nationals can visit Fiji up to four months at a time once they have a valid passport and
a onward or return airline tickets, However if business is your main concern in Fiji, you can only stay a maximum of 14 days.
Each nationality can
be treated different and it is wise to check the requirements before travelling to Fiji.
